We don’t allow people to drive automobiles or operate heavy machinery without a license.

Every day, hundreds of people who don’t know the first thing about computers other than the monkey-like behavior of “I push this button, then I push this button, then the horse dances!” are given equipment worth thousands of dollars and told “go work and don’t bother me.”

I suppose the rationale is that with an automobile, an incompetent driver can kill someone. An incompetent Windows user can only give me an ulcer.

I now understand why so many kind, witty, lovable IT people have reputations as dragons.

I’m not an IT person. And yet, incompetent computer users can’t tell the difference, so I might as well be. ARGH!
