Earlier this week, I was pondering the attitude that work is something to be avoided and eschewed at all costs; I spent a few days talking about that with people in person, via email and chat, and (lightly) in the comments of my post.  On- and off-line, my Mom had the best response.

Even better than that comment, though, is her post this evening.  My Nana, her mother, is retiring at the end of this year.  She’s flying out tomorrow for Mississippi to wait out Hurricane Gustav, serving her final stint as a Disaster Relief Coordinator with the American Red Cross.  Mom’s post is a gorgeous tribute to a phenomenal woman whom I am so incredibly proud and humbled to call my Nana.

Hillary, Sarah, and Michelle, sit the hell down.  You’ve got nothing on the Woman of the Year.
