Colin Beavan, of the No Impact Man project, is speaking tomorrow night at Schenectady County Community College.

When it comes to the idea of taking personal action as far as possible in an effort to change the world, I’m a big fan of Colin’s. His experiment was inspiration for my own Weekly Greening experiment, which has changed much of my behaviour with regard to environmental awareness, impact, and activism, and subsequently lead to my participation on a Companion Planting team and in the 2008 Growing Challenge.

In terms of taking “write to Congress and get the important people to listen” action as the best way to change the world, not so much – but I’m currently disenchanted with government, and my anti-authority attitude is back with a vengeance. In other words, this too shall pass.

And in the meantime, I’m excited to get to meet Colin tomorrow.  That’s a definite add to my “Get-To-Do” list — a great beginning to October.
